Majoring in Biochemistry

Aparna is a junior majoring in Biochemistry and has conducted research in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics where she studied the role of the stress hormone Copeptin in poor pregnancy outcomes. Aparna also conducted research at the International Rice Research Institute(IRRI) in the Philippines where she studied the rice preferences of farmers and rural consumers in the Nueva Ecija province and at the USDA Eastern Regional Research Center in Pennsylvania where she studied protein-polysaccharide interactions.
