Carter Coppinger

Majoring in Biochemistry

Carter Coppinger is a senior from Van Meter, Iowa, pursuing a major in Biochemistry and minors in both Business Administration and Chemistry, and is planning to attend dental school following graduation in pursuit of a D.D.S. Carter has been an undergraduate research assistant in the E. Dale Abel lab in the Department of Internal Medicine for the past year, studying the connection between insulin signaling and heart failure in Type I/II diabetes. He is a volunteer mentor on the Palliative Care Unit at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, a member of Founder’s Club, business case competitions, and the Ski & Snowboard Club. When not studying or in the lab, he also enjoys playing pick-up basketball and other intramural sports, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and fishing.
