Shelby Andersen

Majoring in Microbiology

Shelby is a senior majoring in microbiology with a certificate in Global Health Studies. She is an undergraduate research assistant in the Weber lab and was named a 2020-2021 Stinski fellow. Her previous research focused on the role of tissue tropism in serovar-specific disease caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. She is currently studying the proteins hypothetically secreted by Chlamydia. As an LSEI fellow, Shelby wants to make scientific research accessible to the public and increase scientific literacy as a means of health promotion. In her free time, you can find Shelby hanging out with her elderly cat, Star, and enjoying nature.
