Food Science Club

Food Science Club was a program geared towards teaching second graders at Robert Lucas Elementary School about novel topics in science using food and experimentation. Students were presented with topics including acidity, magnetism, emulsion, and marshmallow engineering. This method integrated food science in order to make these topics more meaningful, fun, and relevant to their everyday lives. This project ultimately aims to improve science literacy by showing kids how to approach novel scientific concepts by making hypotheses, testing their predictions, and making conclusions about observed scientific phenomena.
